A fiery reception at Down End

A beautiful evening walk looking towards Down end. 29.09.22

Following up my last Croyde post here with a more positive view. For me, when visiting the coast there is nothing better than enjoying the last light of the day from golden hour through to sunset.

Here are a set of photographs that were taken quickly on Thursday 29th September after a sunny day exploring the Croyde coastline.

Walking along the B3231 I was treated to some fantastic late evening light which I was lucky enough to document and be able to share here.

I always prefer some cloud cover during a sunset, which helps to provide a spectacular display of golden hues bouncing off and backlighting the clouds, which makes for in my opinion a far more interesting photograph.

As I approached Down End car park, plenty of locals and visitors alike were enjoying the light display on offer and soaking up the remaining warmth of the evening sun.

These photographs were captured on my Canon R6 coupled with the EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 L IS USM lens. It is a very versatile pro zoom lens perfect for cropping in to achieve some of these shots, this allowed me to isolate some of the cloud details and the lens performed brilliantly. The sun was quick to drop below the horizon and in reality I should have got there about 10 minutes earlier to fully enjoy the show, but like any life experience or when enjoying photography, my view is you should simply live in the moment, make the most of this time and savour it for what it is, as ultimately it is a unique experience which will never be exactly replicated again.

I hope you enjoy this set of photographs and as always I appreciate any comments or feedback that you wish to give.
